Hoya anulata

I bought this hoya as a rooted cutting in May 2002 from Botanova in northern Sweden and I was sooo looking forward to the beautiful red leaves and the coconut like fragrance... It grew nicely, but there were no signs of flowers and the leaves were plain green... Until the summer of 2003 - then some of the leaves got red edges and all the new leaves were red. On May 2nd 2004 I got to smell the flowers for the first time and it sure was something worth waiting for!

When Hoya anulata has begun to flower it doesn't only bloom frequently but often it also has several umbels of flowers open at the same time. This hoya often produces new buds before the old flowers have fallen off.
