This hoya comes from India, quite
high up in the Himalaya regions and it was described in 1834. |
| |
|
It's a climbing hoya with rather
big dark green leaves, about 8-12 cm long and 6-8 cm wide. The leaves have
a prominent vein along the middle and no silver flecks. |

The flowers, which last about 10
days, are white with white corona and pale yellow center. Each
flower is about 1.5 cm and there are about 25-30 flowers in each umbel.
The fragrance is said to be different and not so pleasant, which remains
for me to find out. The fragrance WAS really different! It was not very
strong, but when you came close to the flowers it smelled a little
like rotting bananas. The flowers produce quite a lot of nectar and
they last almost two weeks. |
