This hoya comes from the
mountains of Java, southern Thailand, Sumatra, Borneo and Sulawesi
and it was described in 1826. |
| |
|
It's a hoya best suited for
climbing and it belongs to the eriostemma group. The hoyas in this group
need plenty of sunshine to flower. The leaves are medium sized to large,
about 8-11 cm long and 4-6 cm wide. The leaves are almost oblong and
pubescent, more on the underside than on the top. The most prominent vein is the center vein,
but all veins are visible. |

|
It's difficult to get the
eriostemmas to flower, but if you succeed with coronaria you will get
green/yellowish flowers with the corolla lobes slightly curved back.
The corona is darker yellow. There are few flowers in each umbel and the
flowers are about 3 cm each. I've read that these flowers last long and
have a nice fragrance, but there was no description of the fragrance. |
