Hoya hypolasia Schlechter

This hoya comes from Papua New Guinea and it was described in 1913. |

This is a hoya that seems to be easiest grown on a support. |
|
The leaves are 12-18 cm long, 4-4.5
cm wide. Older leaves are very hard and dark green with lowered center veins and
younger leaves are quite thin and lighter green. However, the leaves are
very pubescent and that makes the leaves look more of a greyish green. It seems
to be a slow grower and a tricky one to water. It wants to
be really evenly watered from what I have read. Perhaps easiest with a
self-watering pot?

The flowers are a little cup shaped and have greenish yellow corollas and the corona is yellow. You'll find 15-25 flowers in an umbel and each flower measure about 2 cm in diameter and produces very little nectar. The flowers don't have any fragrance and the flowers last about 5 days. |
