Hoya verticillata 'Bronze'

I got this hoya from a trade in July 2003. The girl I traded with called it Hoya acuta with white flowers. It was only a tiny piece of stem and one leaf and I never thought it would make it! It took forever for it to root and it didn't start growing until April 2004. It grew a peduncle in March this year, but the buds fell off when they were still small. Second time I didn't get my hopes up until the buds were really big. They had opened when I was at work and the fragrance that welcomed us in the bedroom was absolutely wonderful. A definite fragrance favourite!

The leaves on this one are rather shiny and smooth with some veins and very few or no flecks. They are darker green than other verticillatas that I have seen, about 4-10 cm long and 2.5-5 cm wide.

The flowers were not white as I had expected, but a pearl white corolla with sort of bronze tips. The corona was white with red and yellow center. They produced some nectar and lasted about 4 days. Someone suggested this might be the one called 'Bronze', not the white one...
